Beaches
The beaches in the Western Algarve are among the most beautiful and least crowded in Europe. Choose from among the many sheltered sandy coves along the South coast, or venture a little further afield to one of the more dramatic West coast beaches, open to the full force of the Atlantic swell.
Dining Out
With well over 100 restaurants in Lagos and the surrounding area, plus a myriad of cafés, there are options to tempt even the most the discerning palate. The cuisine is mostly Portuguese, but there are also some English, French, Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants, and one Middle Eastern restaurant.
Entertainment & Nightlife
Entertainment and nightlife in the Western Algarve fits all tastes and preferences: there is a plethora of café terraces for calm enjoyment of the evening or dynamic discos to break the night with colour. Picturesque marinas and attractive bars and casinos offer all types of entertainment and enjoyment.
Although rural and rustic, the Western Algarve features the latest trends in music making the area a popular cosmopolitan spot.
Golf
The Algarve is one of Europe’s premier golf destinations, with over twenty courses west of Faro, including some of the top championship courses in Europe. All are within an hour’s drive from AlmaVerde. Warm playing conditions and immaculately manicured fairways and greens are the norm. In the Western Algarve alone there are six established courses - Alto Club, Boavista, Palmares, Parque da Floresta (now S. António), Penina and Espiche Golf. The nearest courses to AlmaVerde - Parque da Floresta and Espiche Golf - are only 3 to 4 km. away.
